My client is looking for an experienced consultant / industry specialist / business developer to lead the expansion of their consultancy into the water sector. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of the UK water industry during a time of change. They are looking for people who can develop their business through consultative business development rather than hard-sell techniques.
Responsibilities:
* Securing new business to achieve the annual consultancy sales targets in the water industry
* Working with trade associations / research bodies to leverage our secretariat services
* Working with central bodies to support central systems
* Working with Regulator / Government departments to provide expert advice and support, lessons
* Understanding needs and requirements of different stakeholders and maximising opportunities to secure new business
* Attending client presentations, conferences and events to gather market intelligence
* Develops deep and broad relationship with Government Departments / Regulators (DEFRA, Scottish Government, Welsh Assembly, WICS, OFWAT, NIAUR)
* Developing new propositions in accordance with business requirements
* Leading bid responses and proposals, responding to tenders and working alongside other members of the business development team
* Needs to speak confidently, and with authority, on all water related subjects. Breadth could include price controls, supply, sewerage
In addition, experience in the following would be desirable:
* In-depth knowledge of UK water industry
* Experience of applying sales and marketing techniques
* Experience of working within a large scale FTSE100 / utility company / consultancy
* Client management, including ability to influence and negotiate, developing partnership relationships
* Experience of developing sales strategy and planning and managing sales activity
* Sound financial management including understanding of budgeting, financial modelling, reporting and management accounting techniques
